“We can now see the magic ‘c’ word – Confidence!”

12322619_10153149105966160_6075188780169326987_o“Carys needed encouragement with developing self-expression.  She loves to dance to music, so I felt trying a new style of Street Dance class that I researched on the internet would enhance her emotional, physical and social skills in a safe, age-friendly, fun atmosphere.
I wanted to make sure the teacher would have a chance beforehand to meet Carys as she’s very shy when taken out of her comfort zone.  Being faced with entering a new dance class and having to introduce herself to a new set of dance class friends for the first time would be daunting for her in particular.  I looked for reassurance that this was carried out with sensitivity.
Carys took straight away to the two free trial sessions on offer.  This has been an excellent opportunity for my daughter to have a second taster session of what the Street Feet Dance class will be like before I signed Carys up for the full term.
Kimberley the Street Feet Dance teacher has had such a positive influence on Carys.  We can now see the magic ‘C’ word – Confidence.”

“Wonderful people – so good at teaching kids in a way that develops their confidence and ability.  I never imagined my daughter could do the dance moves she has achieved in only a few months, and more importantly the confidence it has given her.  Thanks Street Feet team!”

“Zach counts down the days to his weekly Street Dance class.  It makes me happy to see him loving this hobby.”

11215182_10153018177916160_4334575144688248143_n

Before joining Street Feet Dance I don’t thing Zach had yet discovered what activity he enjoyed and found fun. He was following in his brother’s footsteps and not discovering what it was that he loved to do. When I saw him copying dance moves off the television I thou
ght that maybe dancing would be something he would enjoy and benefit from, both from a confidence point of view and exercise.
I did worry a little bit how Zach would be going along to a new class on his own and not with a friend and doing something he had never done before at quite a young age.
All of the dance teachers at Street Feet Dance are all so friendly and bubbly, Zach loves them. From my point of view I have always had quick and very helpful responses to any query I have asked, especially when I was trying to find a different class for Zach to fit aroundschool and other lessons etc. very helpful. We love the holiday party classes you put on for the children too, great idea!
Zach’s confidence has grown so much in the time he is been with Street Feet, he is very sociable. He loves to come home and show us his moves, forward rolls, cartwheels and put some practice in ready to show his teacher the following week. Zach counts down the days to his weekly Street Dance class, it makes me happy to see him loving this hobby.
Last week Zach was given a medal for concentrating and working hard in the lesson, this made a little boy very happy.
Thank you to all the lovely teachers.”

“Her dancing ability has improved no end and Poppy feels happy to learn new and challenging moves.”

12074604_10153045554606160_6999385250425737168_n“Poppy has always been quite a confident girl but we were looking for a “local” street dance class which was not massively competitive. We found Street Feet and from the word go Pops thoroughly enjoyed herself. Not just the dance though. She is meeting up weekly with kids of varying ages all of which are just lovely. Her dancing ability has improved no end and Poppy feels happy to learn new and challenging moves. She is still building her confidence with the “freestyle” but is surrounded by supportive teachers and friends.”

Emma (Street Mix Parent)

“Grace has grown in confidence and absolutely loved dancing at the Christmas demo at the Penta Hotel. Her moves were not quite in sync with the others but no one minded and she loved it!”

Abi and Grace

“Before joining Street Feet Abigail had done some ballet and had been put off by all the hand exercises and need for structure & perfection. I wanted her to try another style of dance but was wary that if she was not ready for it she could be put off forever. She loves street dance classes. She and Grace always enjoyed dancing around the house and now they have an expanding knowledge of moves they can use. Grace is younger, quieter& shy and I was worried that, as she was the youngest in the group, she would be intimidated and not be able to keep up. Grace has grown in confidence and absolutely loved dancing at the Christmas demo at the Penta Hotel. Her moves were not quite in sync with the others but no one minded and she loved it!” Lindsay

“Her confidence has improved 100% and she now has lots of friends thanks to you.”

Katie“Before joining Street Feet Katie had very few friends and her confidence was at an all time low. She had joined the Girls Brigade but gave this up after not very long as she got no enjoyment out of it, she then joined an after school Street Dance class in year 6 but again gave that up as she felt she wasn’t verygood at it. When she decided she wanted to do Street Dance again and joined you I thought ” how long will this last” but she has changed completely and she can’t wait for Wednesday to come round, she is always talking about it and she now lives for street dancing! She is always practicing, dancing and showing us her Break Dance moves that she has learnt when she comes down to visit. Her confidence has improved 100% and she now has lots of friends thanks to you.  Katie has decided because of the enjoyment she gets out of her sessions with you that she said she would like to become a dance teacher like Josie and Cerys and I will support her in attaining this.”  George (Katie’s Grandpa)

“She is very happy and enjoys showing everyone her new moves at parties.”

madalyn“Maddie enjoyed dancing and has always been good at copying but I had no moves for her to copy or a good routine for her to learn! I had no reservations before sending her to Street Feet, I knew she would enjoy it, but I was a tiny bit worried she might be the youngest and get left behind (I think she might be the youngest) but this is not an issue at all. She is very happy and enjoys showing everyone her new moves at parties. She has some rhythm now!”

(Lisa, Mini Feet Parent)

“The hardest thing about Wednesday nights now is getting her to bed because she’s too pumped up showing us her new moves.”

Success stories - Natasha“Tasha was dancing before she could walk. As she got older she tried many forms of dance class and although she enjoyed some more than others she never really settled in and after a couple of years she wa s always looking for something new.She can be a shy individual who finds it difficult to believe in herself and struggles with her confidence. She was introduced to Street Feet Dance at a friend’s birthday party and then attended one of the free sessions during one of the school holidays. She absolutely loved it. Her first lesson did not go so well and she came home in tears because she thought she was rubbish. However she did go back the next week and now 2 terms later she loves Wednesday evenings, she joins in fully with the class and has even been known to practice, which never happened with any of the other dance schools. The hardest thing about Wednesday nights now is getting her to bed because she’s too pumped up showing us her new moves.Street Feet Dance has been a really positive experience for Tasha and I cannot thank them enough.”

(Wendy, Street Mix Parent)

“The high point was watching my son perform in a local theatre with great confidence and his first head spin was magical.”

ben“Before coming to Street Feet Dance Benjamin was ok on confidence but not passionately confident! We went to the usual football for boys but he wasn’t loving it.  We had tried a local street dance class but when Benjamin ended up as the only boy – that was not going to happen! We found the breakdancing class on line and turned up for a taster class – as the breakdancing was slightly more complex I wasn’t sure if he would enjoy the process of picking this up and wondered if he might just give up, perhaps feeling he wasn’t good enough.  Since then Benjamin has hardly missed a class, the teacher has helped him to persevere at picking up the steps and he no longer gets upset if he cannot do these but practices until he masters the moves.  The high point was watching my son perform in a local theatre with great confidence and his first headspin was magical. We both now love dance and enjoy our free time going to see Diversity and other dance performers – doo theirr thaaaannnnggg x  Thank you Josie and Cerys – you are stars  :o) xxxx :o)

Thanks for being in Berkshire!!!!”

(Kaz, Break Dance Parent)

“Thanks Cerys, it’s great to see her so engaged and excited about dancing.”

Lottie - success story pic“Charlotte didn’t show a big desire to dance in her early years, she did ballet for a year but wasn’t passionate about it so when she started school we didn’t continue and she didn’t miss it. She started expressing an interest in more modern dance in the build up to her first school disco when there was clearly some rehearsal of ‘moves’ in the playground, I was a helper at that disco and could see how keen she was but that she might need some direction! She obviously talked with friends at school and asked us if she could do street dance.  I found Street Feet Dance and Charlotte had her free trial with Cerys, she was pretty nervous, especially as she was the youngest there and didn’t know anyone and watching her that first day I didn’t expect to be going back but surprisingly when asked she gave a very definite yes to going to regular classes. At first she struggled to concentrate so didn’t always follow what was going on but now that she has grommets to help her hearing and is much keener to get it right, I think her dancing has improved dramatically. She loves to practice her moves at home, to watch ‘Got to Dance’ and to perform shows for friends and family and her confidence has certainly grown. A couple of her friends from school also attend the class now and she really looks forward to Tuesday nights. Cerys has always been very positive and encouraging and appears to let children develop at their own pace which has worked really well for Charlotte.  Unfortunately Charlotte broke her wrist a couple of weeks ago so has to miss this half term which is one of her biggest frustrations about her accident – she can’t wait to re-join her friends in September. She continues to practice in the living room and you need to keep clear as she’s a little dangerous with a cast on her arm!  Thanks Cerys, it’s great to see her so engaged and excited about dancing.”

“It’s brilliant as you don’t have to be perfect…and you can take it up at any age…Her confidence has really grown as a result.”

Success Stories - AshleyAshley’s first taste of street dance was at a birthday party, but she came home a bit upset because she thought she was rubbish. 4 days later she wanted me to sign her up for classes. I was a bit worried that she would not get on in class as she struggled at the party, Ashley was not worried as she had two friends already there. Ashley has loved street dance class from the beginning, it’s brilliant as you don’t have to be perfect (like ballet) and you can take it up at any age, unlike other types of dance which most children start at a very young age. Her confidence has really grown as a result. She has competed with the competition crew in 2 competitions and will be performing at least 5 times in the end of year show. Not to mention the countless weddings and gatherings that has received an impromptu street dance show! Most children love to dance, and they like to dance to their own type of music and dance like famous people on the television. Street dancing ticks all those boxes.” (Joanne, Street Mix parent – Video Dance Star Gold package)

“Within 2 weeks of being in the class she performed at a charity night and I was amazed at the confidence she showed…she has auditioned for a lead role in her school production, which she would never have had the confidence to do before Street Feet.”

charlotte“I have a nine year old daughter who was always dancing around the house, however I had tried dance classes before and they did not suit Charlotte, as they never welcomed new dancers into the troupes. I was recommended to Street Feet, of which the nearest class was the other side of town from us. I had my concerns regarding the travel, the quality of the classes and the other children.  From the very first session Charlotte was extremely happy, she immediately came home and wanted to practise, practise, practise. Not only was she made to feel welcome she was also encouraged by the other children.  Within two weeks of being in the class she performed at a charity night and I was amazed at the confidence she showed and the other children from all other classes young and old mixed so well. When the first term’s bill came through I couldn’t believe the value for money once again I was pleasantly surprised, there was also not big uniform bill to pay out for, which is the usual case. Charlotte has grown in confidence and is enjoying every minute of being a part of Street Feet, she has auditioned for a lead role in her school production, which she would never have had the confidence to do so before Street Feet. I have, and will continue to recommend Street Feet to all ages young and old.” (Sam, Lil Street Feet parent – Video Dance Star package)

“Millie is fitter and takes Street Feet Dance everywhere with her, she had all the reps on holiday this year doing the routines!”

Milie“Millie has always loved dancing and wanted to join a modern up to date dance class with routines. I was unsure whether the class was structured and what she would get out of it. Millie loves coming to your street dance class and loves the different routines.  She loves learning different aspects especially the baby freeze and shows everyone (it’s now her new party trick)!  She also loves the school holiday club and being part of Woodley Carnival this year. Millie is fitter and takes street feet dance everywhere with her, she had all the reps on holiday this year doing routines!  She is definitely the life and soul of all parties that we attend.” (Julie, Lil Street Feet parent – Video Dance Star Gold package)

“The way that the classes are run is a really important factor in the enjoyment Peggy gets from coming along, there is a strong element of fun…”

peggy“Peggy has always been a confident girl who is willing to try most things. Before starting street dance both myself and Peggy hoped she would enjoy the challenge and that her natural enthusiasm would be put to good use, as a parent you always hope that whatever activities your child takes part in helps them to develop socially and personally. Through the teaching that she has received at Street Feet classes both of these have been met and it has meant that she has developed as a dancer and an individual who can certainly hold her own. Peggy always enjoys coming to the weekly classes and also the holiday courses that she has been to, the different styles of street dance/break dancing that she has learnt have been shown to members of her family and also friends and she is proud to show her moves to others. Her style has developed well and she has learnt through working with older children and also a number of teachers. It has helped her learn that as a member of a crew she has a responsibility to learn from and work with others and to share moves and help others where needed. The way that the classes are run is a really important factor in the enjoyment that Peggy gets from coming along, there is a strong element of fun but not forgetting that the children are there to achieve an aim of learning a routine and this may mean they have to push themselves to do this.

Her biggest achievement has to be the show at Rivermead, to see her and her peers up on a BIG stage in front of hundreds of people was a proud moment indeed. All of the children deserved the applause and showed no fear. The day was a great success and was an experience not to be missed for all involved.” (Phil, Lil Street Feet parent – Video Dance Star package)

“She is confident now.”

Sofya“Sofya was a shy girl, especially with the children of her age.  My worry was that she would not like the group, a lot of children, afraid of them.

She is not very communicative with people, because she   does not speak English well.  She really likes to work with the team. She tells me everything that happened in the group.

She is confident now.   Sofya become more mobile now.”

(Knara – Mini Feet Parent)

“I have had so many people tell me how much their child enjoyed the party – I would definitely recommend.”

“Last year Beth had a bouncy castle party. It was hectic with lots of small kids running about – lots of tears! Very different to this year. My only reservation was whether the children would be too young but they were all fine and loved it! The process of working with you was brilliant! I asked questions – you answered! Painless. The best thing about booking with you was not having to organise it all myself. I trusted what you said and knew the kids would have a fab time – and it didn’t cost the earth! I have had so many people tell me how much their child enjoyed the party – I would definitely recommend!” (Ellie)

“Overall I would say this party has been a great success, everyone has been talking about it since.”

“My 6 year old son said he wanted to do something really cool for his birthday party this year. As he is amazed by all the cool dancers on TV I decided to look into having some sort of street dancing party. Street Feet Dancing was recommended to me so I gave them a call. Cerys seemed friendly and was more than happy to talk me through all their normal procedures and answered all the questions I had. I was initially worried some children might not want to join in if they couldn’t dance but at the party everyone was really eager. They were taught some moves that were really simple yet looked cool, and then they put them all together into a routine. There was a freestyle bit where they could each spin, jump and twirl how they pleased. The teaching was also broken up with a few quick games and then they performed their new routine to the parents. I can’t believe how quickly the time went and what great control Cerys had whilst still making it really fun for all the children. I must learn some of her techniques! Overall I would say this party has been a great success, everyone has been talking about it since.” (Emma)

“Orla loves it, it is her favourite extra-curricular activity and she does a few so you’re doing well!”

Orla had just started school, I was looking to build her confidence. One of my friends told me about the classes because her daughter (Orla’s friend) was going to go as well so it was a way of them still seeing one another regularly.  I actually hadn’t anticipated that Orla would like it if I’m honest, but after the free trial my friend and her daughter didn’t go back just because it wouldn’t fit into their world easily but after session 1 Orla was hooked and actually wasn’t worried about not knowing anyone. Orla loves it, it is her favourite extra-curricular activity and she does a few so you’re doing well! She dances everywhere now which is really funny and I do a really hideously embarrassing David Brent dance next to her, we have fun. Struggling to name just one but she’s happy. She looks forward to dance every week and is growing in confidence.”(Natalie – Mini Feet (Street) Parent)

“Being a part of Street Feet has definitely helped with Ellie’s confidence and making new friends in a lovely friendly environment…”

“Before Ellie came she did lack confidence and being involved in Street Feet helped improve this. Every week she looked forward to the next class and was constantly practising at home showing friends and family her new moves.Being a part of Street Feet has definitely helped with Ellie’s confidence and making new friends in a lovely friendly environment with you as a great dance tutor.” (Tracey, Street Mix parent)

“As a result from attending, his confidence has increased and he really enjoys each class and the challenges it brings.”

“Aaron was very keen to learn break dancing but we were unable to find a class that felt right for him; as a result it was put on the back burner until he decided to do more research into classes available and he discovered Street Feet Dance. When he came for the trial class he was very pleased by the teaching (as I was myself) and it was a bonus that there were more boys than what tends to be in most dance classes. As a result from attending, his confidence has increased and he really enjoys each class and the challenges it brings. He is especially happy that the classes are small and so the teacher can not only help them as a group but also individually.”(Tracy, Break Dance parent)

“My first child was very shy and since she has been coming to Street Dance her confidence has grown.”

“My first child was very shy and since she has been coming to street dance her confidence has grown. My second child started Breakdance and it has taken some of her energy away. She had so much energy and I needed that to go somewhere. Before dance they both only did swimming so this is a good opportunity for them to do more exercise and keep fit. As well as learn great dance movements. They spend their spare time making up dance routines at home and putting on shows for us at weekends, this is something they never really did together. Since coming to dance they seem to work together better, they have learnt lots of moves and the breakdancing well she never used to be able to do a shoulder freeze etc.” (Simon and Angie, Street Mix and Break Dance parents – Just Dance package)

“It was just the challenge we were looking for…Sarah always leaves your class happier than she came in.”

“Sarah was always a little dancer. At a close wedding she danced the night away and it was then I wanted to channel her interest in a positive way. I was looking for somewhere safe and child friendly. Somewhere that was not too disciplined, but had structure and something to achieve at the end of it.  Most of all I wanted somewhere where Saarah could develop her interest in dancing and still have fun. I couldn’t find anyone who took on three year old children until I came across Mini Feet: Street Feet Dance. Saarah loved it immediately. It was just the challenge we were looking for.

She was the youngest upon joining and when I saw the others she was also the smallest. I became a little apprehensive for her but Cerys made her feel very welcome, eventually she came out of her shell and felt right at home as if she was dancing in front of the telly. The music was current and the energy was always positive. Now at five years old it’s still her little thing. At family gatherings everyone is just waiting for her to “bust a move”.  Lil Feet Dance is even better, she loves being around the older children and looks forward to achieve what they can when she is older. She is looking forward to coming back in the New Year and learning more moves and routines.
We also hope to start Hannah in Mini Feet soon. Thank you Cerys for all your hard work and the constant positive energy you bring to the classes. Saarah always leaves your class happier than she came in.”
(Ahfia, Lil Street Feet parent)

“Daniel is now a more confident person and capable dancer after going to your classes.”

“Daniel has always been interested in dance and one day someone mentioned that there were dance classes a short distance away which is when I brought him down. Daniel didn’t have any worries before coming down as this is what he really wanted to do. As a parent you always have reservations when your child gets involved in any activity which is why I sat in on a few lessons to get a feel for the instructor, venue and students. I was pleased with the structure of the class and the quality of dance by yourself and your fellow instructors. It has been a good experience for Daniel as he always looks forward to coming to the classes. He also has a couple of people from his school that go which helps him communicate and make friends outside of the dance class. As you go into your teenage years you can lose a little confidence in doing things you wouldn’t normally think about when you are younger but dance makes you lose your inhibitions as you will often need to dance in front of other people. Daniel is now a more confident person and capable dancer after going to your classes.” (Warren, Street Mix parent – Just Dance package)

“…Her confidence has grown tremendously…and 3 years after starting Sophie still loves every minute of it.”

“At 6 years old my daughter Sophie was quite a shy girl with very little confidence, she wouldn’t stay anywhere on her own, she loved dancing at home and I found out about Street Feet and took her along, that was over 3 years ago and since then her confidence has grown tremendously, she has done 2 shows and been at the front of the stage, she has danced in a competition and performed dances in front of her whole school with a couple of friends.  Cerys has been a great teacher and always encourages the kids in a positive way, and 3 years after starting Sophie still loves every minute of it.”(Tina, Lil Street Feet parent)

“Every time Jessica attends she is happy and full of energy, she is always looking forward to lessons and seeing her friends. She now finds it easier to concentrate.”

“My daughter enjoyed dance but wasn’t able to do a lot of dance moves. I was expecting Jessica to have fun more than anything. I also wanted her to be able to socialize and make new friends. Most of all I hoped that Jessica would be able to learn some dance moves to show to the family, and something that she would be proud off. Every time Jessica attends she is happy and full of energy, she is always looking forward to lessons and seeing her friends. She now finds it easier to concentrate. She is also able to do some nice dance moves.” (Sandra, Lil Street Feet parent – Just Dance package)
